CLEVELAND - Democratic presidential candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton forcefully aired their differences last night at the MSNBC Democratic debate. The meeting of political foes occurred as attacks from both camps intensified and a national poll showing Americans would prefer that Obama get the nomination was released.

Schultz remembered

The late Councilman William Schultz’s family and friends honored his memory at his service yesterday at Theodore Roosevelt High School. He died Jan. 3 after a period of failing health.

Schultz served on Kent City Council for 27 years, and he was known across Portage County as a progressive and advocate for the underprivileged.

Student charged in $7.4 million theft

A federal grand jury indicted a Kent State student yesterday in connection with the theft of $7.4 million from an armored car company in Liberty, Ohio Nov. 26.

Student Nicole D. Boyd, along with her boyfriend, Roger L. Dillon, are charged with three counts, including theft from a federally insured bank. According to court documents, at least $1 million of the stolen cash belongs to Chase Bank.
